Voodoo Fishin' Chum Bucket and Fishing Spots

Edited

The Voodoo Fishin' Chum Bucket turns fish into chum that replenishes a fished-out area. Obtain the tool through the session’s Dock Quota progression, add a fish, and get the chum into the depleted water. It restocks a spot; it does not select a specific species, replace your bait, or teleport you like a Wormhole Bucket.

Unlock the tool, then feed it a fish

Check the Fish Monger’s current quota rewards and work toward the Chum Bucket. A July two-player guide saw the first bucket at the second quota, but the author warns about patches and group size; the later second-Monger update introduced separate reward choices. That historical order is not a universal current threshold.

KawaiiFoo’s original process is to add a fish to the Chum Bucket. The developer describes turning the fish into chum and throwing chum into the water to replenish a fishing area. Use that tool at the water you want to restock, then resume fishing there.

The same player found no difference between fish rarities as chum inputs and suggested using common fish. Treat this as a July observation, not a measured 1.0 conversion formula. The guide also warns that the resulting chum can fling in different directions and distances, so positioning the bucket matters.

Read the spot’s visible population

The July ambient-fish update says visible swimming fish represent the area’s population and disappear when it is fished out. The release listing describes chum making an exhausted spot bubble again. These are useful area-state cues; neither identifies every fish that has returned.

Continue matching the target’s depth, bait and habitat. Restocking a poor match does not turn it into a suitable location. The Journal targeting sequence still applies after the population comes back.

What the bucket does not promise

No source here specifies a fixed number of replacement fish, a restock radius or a guaranteed target species. Do not turn a single use into an exact yield claim. Session reward availability is also separate from permanent character progress.

The July patch fixed chum and turtles failing to pass through a Wormhole Bucket. That is a transport fix for the paired travel tool, not evidence that a Chum Bucket itself provides travel.
