THE INDEPENDENT FIELD GUIDE
Voodoo Fishin' Lost Tackle, Death, and Recovery
Edited
When you die in Voodoo Fishin', your catch is lost and a visibly held fishing rig can drop its rod, reel and bait into the world. Look for recovery in the same session, including gear offered by Dealin’ Delores at the Pawn Shop. A Skull enchantment gives a rod or reel one loss-prevention use; it does not restore an entire lost haul.
August held-rig rules, September Pawn Shop release, and July enchantments. No guarantee of recovering every drop, restoring fish or carrying shop stock into another lobby is established. Sources and scope.
Separate the catch, held rig and session upgrades
The release store warns that death costs your catch and equipped tackle. The August explanation makes the held-gear condition visible: if the rod, reel and bait are out in your hands when you die, they are dropped into the world. It also notes that holding a fish automatically unequips the rod.
That statement does not establish that every item stored elsewhere is deleted, or that an unattended cooler is always safe. Losing a catch, losing a held rig and leaving a session with temporary upgrades are different events.
Cooler upgrades reset when you leave the lobby. A smaller box on the next run is therefore a documented session reset, not proof that your rod disappeared or your entire account was erased.

Check the current session before leaving
Start by distinguishing a drop still in the world from gear that has become permanently lost in the session. The August notes describe the world drop, but they do not give a universal timer or a guarantee that every dangerous position can be reached safely.
The September Pawn Shop announcement gives the concrete repurchase path: Delores’s stock is created from tackle sold during the current session and tackle permanently lost when a player dies. Visit that shop and look for the missing piece. If it is offered, buying it back is a purchase, not a free restore command.
Confirm recovery by checking that the correct piece is back in your tackle inventory. If it is not on offer, no source here guarantees a later spawn or a refund. The developer’s wording says lost gear might not be gone for good; it does not promise a complete return for every death.
Do not leave expecting a new lobby to recreate the same shop stock. No supported restoration path for the lost catch or a prior session’s inventory is established here. That is a limit of the available recovery information, not a claim that every loss is irreversible.

Use protection before the risk
At Auntie Brigitte’s enchantment system, combining a rod or reel with a Skull adds one loss-prevention enchantment. Its published scope is the treated piece and one use. It is not insurance for bait, a cooler or every future run.
If a threat approaches while your line is in the water, G cuts the line so you can leave at the cost of the bait. The same key throws a fish when that is what you are holding; check the state before pressing it.
Return a valuable catch to the seller before taking another unnecessary risk. If you need to replace gear, the selling-and-spending guide separates the buyers and upgrade decisions. This advice does not claim a guaranteed safe route through an encounter.
