Voodoo Fishin' Wormhole Bucket: Finding and Using It

Edited

Each full-game Voodoo Fishin' session spawns two Wormhole Buckets at random locations. Find them, move one toward your destination and the other toward your return point, then jump onto a wormhole to travel to its partner. The developer says nearby buckets make a sound; there is no fixed-coordinate route to reuse in every lobby.

April 23 developer feature announcement and April–May original discussion, with July transport fixes checked. Jumping and carried-item behavior are attributed to player ifter. The feature announcement excludes the demo; exact 1.0 build not tested. Sources and scope.

Find the pair before planning the shortcut

The developer confirms one pair per lobby, spawning at random locations, and says you can listen for a nearby bucket. Search the current world rather than treating a location from another player’s run as a guaranteed spawn.

Both buckets are movable once found. Their usefulness comes from where you place the pair, not from purchasing a teleport at a shop. Community sightings near familiar scenery are examples of one lobby, not a complete spawn map.

Arrange a route you can actually use

The developer proposes using the buckets for a quick return from a fishing spot to the Monger. Player ifter explains the operation: pick up and place the bucket like a cooler, and jumping onto one wormhole sends you to the other.

  1. Find both buckets in the current full-game lobby. Listen for their nearby sound while searching.
  2. Pick up a bucket and carry it to a useful return point, such as your selling route. Place it down using the cooler-style interaction.
  3. Move its partner to the fishing area you want to revisit. Keep the approach usable rather than placing it where you cannot reach it.
  4. Jump onto one wormhole to arrive at the other. Use its partner for the return journey.

Travel with a load and distinguish the other bucket

Ifter’s original description says held items travel with you, including a cooler or fish. The developer’s own proposed use is returning with a full cooler. The July 16 patch separately fixed chum and turtles failing to pass through the bucket.

A Wormhole Bucket handles travel. A Chum Bucket turns fish into chum for a depleted fishing spot; its similar name does not make it the other half of a teleport pair.

Demo, new lobbies and a missing bucket

The Wormhole Bucket feature announcement explicitly excludes the demo. The current store listing also warns that exploration and higher-tier tackle have demo limits; do not treat a full-game route as a demo unlock instruction.

Ifter reports that losing a carried bucket to water or a water creature makes it respawn somewhere else, and that creating a new lobby randomizes the pair again. Those are the player’s Early Access observations, not a guaranteed current rescue mechanic. First check whether your partner is still placed; do not assume yesterday’s coordinates or another session’s placement persists.
